Silk Road Fund Establishes a China-Uzbekistan Joint Investment Platform

In October 2023, on the occasion of the Third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, Silk Road Fund (SRF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding aiming at establishing a China-Uzbekistan Joint Investment Platform with the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan and the Uzbekistan Fund for Reconstruction and Development. Establishment of the China-Uzbekistan Co-investment Platform marks the first concrete action in the implementation of the China-Central Asia Investment and Financing Platform initiated by SRF during the first China-Central Asia Summit held in May this year. The joint investment platform intends to invest RMB 5 billion or equivalent in foreign currency. This will further deepen financial cooperation between China and Uzbekistan, and promote sustainable development of the region. After establishment of the platform, the signing parties will jointly explore investment opportunities in sectors such as infrastructure, renewable energies, health and medical services and digital economy in Uzbekistan and other regions as agreed by the two sides.
