A subsidiary of Old Mutual Investments (Pty) Ltd, African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM) is a renowned infrastructure investor in Africa and the sponsor of African Infrastructure Investment Funds (AIIF). In March 2019, Silk Road Fund invested as a limited partner in AIIF3, which focuses on infrastructure investments across sub-Saharan Africa, primarily in power, transport and midstream energy sectors.

To date, AIIF3 has supported various projects spanning a wide spectrum of sectors such as renewable energy, airports and ports, logistics, mid-stream oil & gas, and conventional power generation in a range of Sub-African countries including Nigeria, Ghana, Benin, Kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania. These efforts have played a positive role in reducing carbon emissions, creating more jobs and benefiting local people.

In 2019, AIIF3 was recognized as the Best ESG Fund of the Year by SuperReturns Africa. In 2021, its investment in Metrofibre (an open-access fibre network operator in South Africa) was named Infrastructure Deal of the Year by Private Equity Africa.
